The sun is currently shining on the other half of the planet and wind energy is at 1% of installed capacity. 250 GW of wind power plants only supply 2.5 GW. Heat pumps alone would require over 60 GW more electricity than gas-fired power plants and wind energy supply. Where would the spot market prices be if Germany had to import 60 GW for heat pumps alone? About where they were in Texas on February 15, 2021, around €8 per kWh?
